How to read the Bible
As always let’s read the Bible in a hermeneutical way and let the Bible explain itself.
When we read the 2 Timothy 3:8 it says the ‘all Scripture is inspired by God and beneficial for teaching, for rebuke, for correction, for training in righteousness’. So this entails the Old and New Testament. Paul told us that the new covenant is better than the old covenant in Hebrews 7:22 & 8:6. This means we should see the Old Testament through the lens of the New Testament because Jesus is the Word that became flesh John 1:1.
So what is a testament precisely? Hebrew 9:16-17 tells us that
Or just read 2 Corinthians 3:14 where Paul says plainly that we can only truly understand the OT through Jesus Christ. Therefore whatever we read in the OT needs to be interpreted with NT eyes but more importantly by revelation of the Holy Spirit.
